Vikram Mehta

Vikram is executive chairman of the think tank Brookings India, a senior fellow of the Brookings Institution and served as chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in India from 1994 until 2012. He was previously managing director of Shell Markets and Shell Chemical Companies in Egypt, having joined the company in London in 1988.

Vikram was chairman of the Hydrocarbon Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry and a member of its National Council. He is an independent director of several companies, including Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Vodafone India and Colgate-Palmolive India.

He is a member of the board of overseers of Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the board of governors of the Pandit Deen Dayal University of Petroleum. He writes a column in leading national newspapers Indian Express and Financial Express, and regularly appears in the media.
