James Marshall
Senior Advisor
James advises clients on UK and EU politics and policy. He has over a decade of experience advising successive UK prime ministers and cabinet ministers, most recently as the director of the Number 10 Policy Unit in the prime minister’s office.
James was previously principal special adviser to two leaders of the House of Lords and to three successive chief whips in the House of Commons. James helped pass the government’s legislative programme through both houses of the UK Parliament, including more than 150 bills in six years.
Before entering politics, James was head of English at one of the UK’s leading independent schools, Shrewsbury School. He was awarded a CBE in 2019 for political and public service.
James holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Magdalene College, Cambridge and a master’s degree (distinction) from the University of London in international security and global governance.
