Jonas Nahm
Senior Advisor
Jonas Nahm is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. Most recently, Jonas completed a tenure as the Senior Economist for Industrial Strategy on the White House Council of Economic Advisers, where he covered matters pertaining to industrial policy implementation, global trade, and supply chain resilience.
In his academic role, Jonas is a political economist whose work examines how the resurgence of industrial policy—particularly in sectors related to the energy transition—is changing the global economy in real time. He is particularly interested in understanding how governments navigate trade-offs between decarbonization, economic competitiveness, and resilience, and the impact of their responses on the architecture of the global economy and firm strategies.
Prior to joining SAIS, Jonas was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University. He hods a PhD in Political Economy from MIT.
