Mark Carney

Mark previously served as governor of the Bank of England and chair of the Monetary Policy Committee, Financial Policy Committee and the Board of the Prudential Regulation Committee.
He was chair of the Financial Stability Board, chair of the Economic Cooperation Council of Governors of the Bank for International Settlements, first vice-chair of the European Systemic Risk Board and a member of the Group of Thirty and the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum.
After a 13-year career with Goldman Sachs in London, Tokyo, New York and Toronto, Mark was appointed the deputy governor, and then governor, of the Bank of Canada. He also served within Canada’s government as senior associate deputy minister of finance.
Mark holds a master’s degree and PhD in economics from Oxford University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University.
